When best friends become more than friends?

i hear people say this all of the time as well as once you become a friend you stuck in the dreaded "friend zone." anyways i dont understand this logic one says it works and one says it never will. so whats the point of the friends zone anyway if it does work out sometimes? i have a girl im talking to and we are very good friends, shes the best girl friend ive ever had which says alot since im primarily friends with guys. she invited me to come stay with her at school after only seeing her once in years. she says things like im wonderful, loves talking to me and loves our conversations, let me in on some personal secrets. i feel like i couldnt get any closer with her. it kind of sucks bc i was expecting something to happen by now since ive never been this close with a girl.shes talked about her troubles finding someone to be with but has def not subtly hinted at me or anything, besides she told of one guy she met randomly who she talked to till 4 in the morning. i guess my chances are minimal since she lives so far away and we wont be able to spend much time together anyways do u think it could become more? or am i stuck in the friends zone foreveeeeerrrrr? i mean ive been told since she invited me up it sounds like she wants something more. whats your opinion of this matter?
