Be an expat in moscow?

I have the opportunity to work abroad in my company's branch in Moscow. Is life in Moscow and Russia in general as an expat good? My russian is not very good and working there will definitely be great for achieving fluency, but i'm more interested in what kind of lifestyle I can have? I like things russian, but when I think of living in Russia, I think of only 2 cities (Moscow and St. Petersburg), and I have this impression that there's not a lot to do both in the cities and outside. I currently work in San Fran.
