No, it's just a toy. The scary thing about it is someting called the ideomotor effect (google it up!), which is responsible for a person to 'fake' messages without realizing it. If you read about it you'll figure it out. About ghosts and spirits and that stuff, you should research skeptical literature to make up your own mind about their existence. I don't believe in them.
